Sorry, these trips are sold out!

We embarked on a week of runs as varied as the wines we tasted along the way. Cliff top miles mixed with woodland trails, gently undulating terrain and single track climbs all featured at some point.

The enthusiasm of the local guides was infectious; they kept us informed and entertained with facts and stories on every aspect of the history, local customs, food, wildlife , geography and wine. The picnic lunches on this trip are like nothing you have experienced before - think fresh, authentic, varied, vast and catering for all dietary needs.

My lasting memory will be - elephant babies playing by the waterhole pulled out by their mothers trunk, young bulls facing off to each other, small herds majestically striding out in unison across the scrubland....

This trip has a perfect blend of authentic South African experiences, food, wildlife , wines and running....... just do it :-)

If you’re searching for one trip that has it all, this is the one!

First, the landscapes: Picture dramatic cliff faces plunging into a turquoise ocean, iconic Table Mountain presiding over Cape Town, powder soft beaches, thick indigenous forests, carpets of flowers, miles upon miles of gently rolling vineyard-covered hills and magical golden sunsets.

Then, the wildlife: We’ll spot sunbathing seals, hang out with a penguin colony, look for migrating whales, be entertained by mischievous baboons and get up close and personal with majestic elephant herds in one of the country’s famous game reserves.

And then, the food: From the foodie scene in Cape Town to a traditional backyard braai, you’ll find an exotic fusion that tells the story of the region’s many inhabitants: indigenous game meats, starches & greens, Malay spices, Dutch heartiness. You’ll find great coffee, a thriving craft beer scene and, of course, South Africa’s legendary wines right at the source.

Finally, the history: It’s no secret that the story of South Africa is a difficult and complex one, and we will take the time to understand the struggles and achievements that have made it the place it is today.

And the running? Best to come experience it for yourself, and be forewarned: you won’t ever want to go back home.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • US citizens will need a passport with at least 30 days of validity remaining beyond your return date; participants from other countries should check with their consulate for entry requirements.

  • Please ensure that you arrive in Cape Town (CPT) no later than 3pm on arrival day and depart Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha (PLZ / FAPE) no earlier than 2pm on departure day. If you arrive/depart outside of those parameters then you will be responsible for your own airport transfers (though we can help you make arrangements). If you have trouble finding international flights out of PLZ, a great option is to book a short hop with Safair to either Cape Town or Johannesburg, then catch an evening flight home.

  • Please note that travel insurance is strongly recommended. Although we hope you never need it, we've seen enough to know that it can be a lifesaver in the event of a medical emergency, flight delays that cause you to miss the start of the trip, lost baggage or cancellation on your part (break your leg two weeks before departure? Insurance could cover the entire cost of your trip!).
