Hands down one to the best trips and times of my life.

We just returned from the Run Alpe-Adria trip traveling through Slovenia and Croatia. It was incredible. The trails were awesome, the food was amazing, the locations were all stunning and the people we had the privilege of sharing the experience with, were the best.

We ran many miles on some epic trails. drank great wine/beer/grappa, ate gourmet meals, stayed at cool and unique places, laughed until our jaws hurt and formed lasting friendships over 9 unforgettable days. This was our first RE trip and for sure will not be our last!

Encompassing Slovenia and one very special Croatian island, Run Alpe-Adria treats runners to both the hidden gems and better-known indulgences of this remarkable region.

Run breathtaking trails through tranquil forests and rolling vineyards, across idyllic meadows, around alpine lakes and along the electric-blue Soca River.

Explore caves, castles and ancient villages, sail the Adriatic and take in the grandeur of the Julian Alps. Pause mid-run to pull a ripe fig off a tree, or to sip an espresso, or to jump into the sea, just because you can. Wonder why on earth there aren't more tourists around and then continue along feeling very, very thankful that there aren't.

Nights are spent in beautifully restored farmhouses, quaint B&Bs and mountain chalets, and meals are indulgent multi-course affairs, featuring the local specialties of each region. And of course, there will be wine. Lots of wine.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This trip begins in Venice, Italy with an immediate transfer to Slovenia. We recommend arriving a day or two early as a buffer in case of flight delays, and for the chance to explore Venice on your own!

  • US citizens will need a passport with at least 3 months of validity left and in 2025, will also require an ETIAS authorization to enter the EU. The launch date has yet to be confirmed; you can check for the latest here. Participants from other countries should check with their consulate for entry requirements.

  • Please ensure that you arrive in Venice no later than 12 noon on Day 1 and depart Venice no earlier than 12 noon on Day 9. If you arrive early (highly recommended!) then we will pick you up at a pre-arranged time/place on the first day. If you extend your stay in Venice then we'll be happy to take you to your hotel on the final day. If you choose to stay in Ljubljana afterward, it is very easy to get where you’re going from our final hotel. If you arrive/depart outside of these parameters then you will be responsible for your own airport transfers.

  • Please note that travel insurance is strongly recommended. Although we hope you never need it, we've seen enough to know that it can be a lifesaver in the event of a medical emergency, flight delays, lost baggage or cancellation on your part (Break your leg two weeks before departure? Insurance can cover the entire cost of your entire trip! Flight delays cause you to miss the first day? Insurance can cover the cost of transport to meet up with us!).
