The majestic limestone spires of the Italian Dolomites encircle the northern part of the country, and within them lies a veritable wonderland of bucolic green pastures, winding trails, alpine lakes and cozy mountain huts whose proprietors warmly welcome weary trailblazers with a unique blend of Italian hospitality, Austrian efficiency and hearty flavors that showcase the best of both worlds. This is a landscape so iconic and so astounding that you’ll hardly believe your own eyes.

There are few places on earth that offer such rich opportunity for outdoor adventure in such close proximity to world-class gastronomy and hospitality, and with this trip you will sample it all: challenging runs and hikes amongst soaring pinnacles that appear to have been chiseled by a master sculptor; homestyle trattoria meals, sunset apertivo and gourmet ristorante experiences; warm lodges, boutique hotels and a rifugio experience too; glowing pink sunrises, starry nights and ample opportunity to sip perfectly pulled espresso and refuel with hot apple strudel in the most unlikely of mid-run mountaintop spots.

For the trail runner who is all-in on big-time climbs, big-time views and even bigger meals, it simply does not get any better. Your adventure awaits!

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This trip begins in Venice, Italy with an immediate transfer to Cortina d’Ampezzo. We recommend arriving a day or two early as a buffer in case of flight delays, and for the chance to explore Venice on your own.

  • US citizens will need a passport with at least 3 months of validity left and, beginning in 2025, will also require an ETIAS authorization to enter the EU. The launch date has yet to be confirmed; you can check for the latest here. Participants from other countries should check with their consulate for entry requirements.

  • There are no longer any covid-related requirements to enter Italy

  • Please ensure that you arrive in Venice no later than 12 noon on Day 1 and depart Venice no earlier than 1pm on Day 7. If you arrive early (highly recommended!) then we will pick you up at a pre-arranged time/place on the first day. If you extend your stay in Venice then we'll be happy to take you to your hotel on the final day. If you arrive/depart outside of these parameters then you will be responsible for your own airport transfers.

  • You should purchase travel insurance for this trip. Although we hope you never need it, we've seen enough to know that it can be a lifesaver in the event of a medical emergency, flight delays, lost baggage or cancellation on your part. Don’t wait too long to take care of this - insurance only works if you have it before something happens.
