Where the Sonoran Desert meets the Sea of Cortez, singletrack trails weave through forests of ancient cacti before dropping to hidden coves of crystalline turquoise water. In this land of contrasts, mornings spent climbing rugged mountain paths end with fresh-caught fish tacos in tiny beach towns, while afternoons bring encounters with playful sea lions and nights in eco-lodges where the stars seem close enough to touch.

Day 1: ¡BIENVENIDOS A MÉXICO!

¡BIENVENIDOS A MÉXICO !
Meet us at the Los Cabos airport, where we’ll immediately head for the colorful Pacific coastal village of Todos Santos. The only officially designated Pueblo Mágico in Baja, Todos Santos is a vibrant study in contrasts: dirt roads and boutique hotels, ancient cacti and crashing surf, sunbaked hills and swaying palm groves, tamale vendors and cocktail bars. We’ll get settled into our hotel, an impeccably restored historical building right in the center of town that we’ll call home for the next two nights and then head out for a short sunset shakeout through a palm oasis and onto a gorgeous beach. That evening we’ll officially welcome you to Baja with introductions, a multi-course farm-to-table dining experience by one of the top chefs in Mexico and details on our first official run, happening the following morning!

meals included:
D (dinner) included
Running:
3-4 mile shakeout run
Wake up with the sun for coffee and breakfast before lacing up for our first run starting at the old sugar cane mill along the coastline. We’ll cruise down a dirt road lined with regal cardón cacti until we reach the hills and head up, up, up for spectacular clifftop single-track trails with sea lions barking and surf crashing below. The route will eventually loop us back down to the water, where we’ll be treated to an oceanfront feast that you’ll never forget. The afternoon will be yours – wander the town and explore the shops and galleries, kick back with a rooftop beverage or simply nap by the pool. Early in the evening we will regroup and head a few miles out of town for an unforgettable sunset dinner on the beach; you’ll want to bring your camera and lose the shoes for this one!
meals included:
D (dinner) included
Running:
up to 8 mi/13km; 1000ft / 300m gain; single track trail and dirt road

Today we depart the coast and head for El Triunfo, a historical gold and silver mining town nestled within the rugged Sierra de la Laguna mountains. Once the most populated place in Baja California Sur, today the town has just over 300 residents and nearly as many varieties of cactus – many of which we’ll spot during our run! The singletrack route will lead us away from town, through a veritable forest of cacti before looping back to the historic mine and, eventually, our hotel. We’ll have lunch at a great little local spot, then enjoy downtime at our quirky, cozy cabanas back in El Triunfo. Later that afternoon we’ll take a short drive down a bumpy dirt road to an even smaller town for a guided walk through an amazing cactus sanctuary and a hearty homemade feast of traditional interior specialties.

meals included:
B, L, D included
Running:
up to 6.5 mi / 11km; 650ft / 220m gain; single track trail & dirt road
As the sun rises we’ll grab breakfast and head east, to the powdery white beaches and sparkling turquoise waters of the Sea of Cortez where we’ll board a short boat shuttle to the start point of our run. The route follows a series of clifftop trails that dip down to four different beaches along the way, each more stunning than the last; this one may be short on distance, but the climbing and the views of what many people say is the most beautiful beach in Mexico are sure to satisfy! Afterward we’ll board the boat once more and head out for an unforgettable afternoon cruising and snorkeling around Isla Espíritu Santo, an uninhabited and environmentally protected island with an astonishingly diverse array of sea life both above and beneath its waters. That evening we’ll head back to our cabanas and cap off the day with a gourmet pizza dinner at a hidden little spot that we can’t wait to show you!
meals included:
breakfast, Lunch, dinner
Running:
up to 3 mi/5km; 550ft / 180m gain; single track trail, sandy beach

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before we pack up and take a short drive back to the east coast of the peninsula for a mid-morning run that goes for miles and miles along a quiet dirt road with sweeping ocean views (and high potential for whale sightings!) the entire time. We’ll finish in Los Barriles, which happens to be home to one of our favorite little taco shops. Once fed, rehydrated and sufficiently chilled out we will head further south, leaving civilization behind and traveling through what feels like the middle of nowhere, where the roads turn to sand and the ocean views stretch as far as the eye can see. Juuuust when you begin to question where on earth we’re taking you, we’ll arrive at our home-away-from-home for the final two nights and, trust us… you won’t ever want to leave.

meals included:
breakfast, Lunch, dinner
Running:
up to 10 mi / 16km; 600ft / 200m gain; dirt road

If there’s anything worth leaving ‘home’ for, this grand finale of a run is it! After breakfast we’ll head for Cabo Pulmo, a tiny beach village and national park that is home to both the last living hard coral reef in North America and a spectacular singletrack mountain trail network. This run includes a fantastic sampler of these trails, which will involve some challenging climbs, unique desert flora and 360* views of the ocean and surrounding mountain wilderness. It finishes – naturally – at another beachfront taco shop where we’ll refuel and relax before heading back to our ecolodge for downtime and a final multi-course sunset dinner above the ocean.

meals included:
breakfast, Lunch, dinner
Running:
up to 8 mi / 13km; 1050 ft / 350m gain; single track trail & dirt road
Today is departure day, but we’ll enjoy a relaxed morning with plenty of time for a jog or stroll down to the beach for one last jaw-dropping sunrise and a final big breakfast. After a reluctant goodbye it will be time to head back to Los Cabos, where we’ll ensure that you’re at the airport with plenty of time to catch your flights home.
meals included:
breakfast
Running:
no organized run; option to OYO from the lodge
