The race echoes with the pulsating rhythm of the land, a tribute to the endurance of both the runners and the untamed landscape.
The course weaves through a mixed terrain of forested slopes, winding river trails, and the dramatic, sun-baked cliffs of the Sierra Madre Occidental. Runners chase the horizon across a rich tapestry of landscapes, touching specific landmarks such as the gleaming Rio Urique and the ancient rock formations of Cerro Corareachi. The air is filled with the sound of crashing water and the scent of wild pine, a sensory feast that challenges and rewards in equal measure.
Born from the dreams of Micah True, a legendary local ultrarunner, the race honours the local Rarámuri community, known for their long-distance running traditions. The Ultra Maratón Caballo Blanco has become a vibrant celebration of cultural exchange and shared love for running.
Race options include the 21k, 42k, 50-mile, and the epic 100-mile challenge, each offering a unique journey through the heart of the Sierra Madre Occidental.
