The Maratona do Funchal course, a gleaming ribbon of road, winds its way through the island’s floral landscapes, revealing a blend of natural splendor and cultural charm.
The course begins in the heart of Funchal, a city known for its markets and historic cobblestone streets. Runners quickly emerge along the azure coastline, with the endless Atlantic Ocean as a constant companion.
The route then spirals inland, where the wild, untamed beauty of Madeira’s forests awaits. Expect to encounter undulating hills and the occasional waft of sweet, tropical flowers as you navigate this challenging, yet picturesque, course.
The race offers three distance options: 8km, 21km, and 42km.
