We enable runners to experience the most beautiful destinations on the planet which are often found on top of mountains, along beaches, and within ancient towns and cities.
Our story began in March 2012, when co-founders Allison Macsas and Gabe Steger took a personal vacation to Morocco. A chance encounter with a local guide named Hamid led to an impromptu Sahara desert excursion. Under a canopy of stars, conversation turned to the incredible running landscapes Morocco offered and the unique travel experiences it provided.
In that moment, Rogue Expeditions was born.
Back in Austin, Allison and Gabe partnered with Rogue Running and Hamid to plan our first official trip. With 20 enthusiastic participants, our inaugural Morocco expedition was a resounding success. It became clear that we had tapped into something special—a desire among runners to explore the world in a uniquely immersive way.
Over the past decade, our small business has grown beyond our wildest dreams. What started as a single Moroccan adventure has blossomed into a global operation, offering 14 different itineraries across 9 countries. Each trip is crafted with the same passion, attention to detail, and spirit of adventure that inspired our first expedition.
Today, Rogue Expeditions hosts over 30 trips annually, guiding nearly 500 runners through some of the world’s most awe-inspiring destinations. From the rugged trails of Patagonia to coastal trails in South Africa, we continue to seek out new horizons and create extraordinary experiences.
