ITINERARY

Please note that all listed run distances can be shortened or lengthened - all abilities accommodated! - and that itinerary is subject to minor adjustments due to weather, logistical considerations, etc.

DAY 1
Arrive in Ljubljana, the green, beautiful and pedestrian-centric capital of Slovenia. After getting settled into your accommodation right in the center of town, you’ll have a relaxed day of wandering the riverfront, checking out the castle or simply taking a post-flight nap before we meet for a big welcome dinner.
No running. Dinner (D) included

DAY 2
After a good night of sleep and a relaxed breakfast we will hit the road! Our destination is the karst region of Slovenia, which borders Italy and produces nearly all of the country’s celebrated wine. The run begins at a castle before taking us through picturesque forest, farm land and endlessly rolling vineyards, eventually finishing with a glass of wine at the 300 year old farmhouse that we will call home for the night. Spend the evening recovering in this idyllic setting and getting acquainted with local cuisine as you enjoy one of the best dining experiences in the country.
Up to 8 miles, dirt road and pavement. BLD included

DAY 3
After a breakfast filled with homemade and homegrown everything, we will head to the village of Bovec, set at the foot of the Julian Alps. The run follows the incomprehensibly blue Soca river by way of historical footpaths and magical forest trails. This run is quite technical, but the views make it all worth it - take your time, and bring a camera! After a picnic lunch and a dip – err, icebath – in the river, there will be time to explore the area further: raft the Soca, learn about the major role that this area played in WW1. Later, enjoy spectacular views, food and recovery time at our guesthouse.
Running: Up to 12 miles, singletrack trail
BLD included

DAY 4
After a big breakfast it'll be time to say goodbye to Bovec and hello to Croatia! The mid-morning trail run will take in views of the sea and will hopefully leave you hungry; we finish with a massive lunch featuring the specialty of the Istrian peninsula - truffles! Afterward we head to the romantic port town of Rovinj where you'll be free to wander and soak in the view with a glass of wine at the waterfront.
Up to 7 miles, singletrack trail
BLD included

DAY 5
Rest day! Sleep in, then enjoy a relaxed breakfast. We’ll then head to Island Cres, where a stunningly restored farmhouse - home for the next two nights! - awaits. Our hostess is a professionally trained chef who will both show you around the expansive gardens and ensure that you are well-fueled for your upcoming long run.
No scheduled run. BLD included

DAY 6
Get ready – today is the big run! Those who run the full route will cover nearly the full length of the island via both trail and road, featuring sweeping views of the crystal clear Adriatic Sea and picture-perfect ancient villages. Finish at the farmhouse with a locally-sourced gourmet lunch and an afternoon recovering on a boat in the Adriatic.
Up to 19 miles, technical trail and some pavement. BLD included

DAY 7
After an optional morning recovery run on the island, we'll head back to Ljubljana where you’ll have the remainder of the day to explore on your own: sample gelato, sit at a cafe, visit museums, or simple wander around and soak it all in.
Up to 8 miles, pavement. BLD included

DAY 8
Today’s run at Lake Bohinj is part trail along an amazing river gorge and part cruise around this pristine alpine lake – a nice shakeout after a few technical days! Light snacks and time to swim will follow, then we will head to lake Bled for a chance to check out Slovenia’s best-known (and most photographed) spot. Our grand finale of a dinner will be held near Ljubljana – make sure that you come hungry and ready for a legendary farm-to-table dining experience! Many hours later we will go to our hotel in Ljubljana, where you are free to go out (or just pass out).
Up to 9 miles, technical trail, dirt path and pavement. BLD included

DAY 9
Time to say goodbye! Enjoy a final big breakfast before heading to the airport or connecting to additional travel.
No running. B included
