This trip requires two mandatory 10 mile days (Days 5 & 7) with significant elevation change, getting to and then from our campsite (4500 ft / 1400m of climbing there, then 4500 ft / 1400m of descent to return two days later). All other routes are adjustable in terms of distance and plans will be tweaked according to the ability mix of the group. Daily maximums are listed on the itinerary and, as always, there is no time or pace pressure - some hiking is fine and to be expected. Though we’ll be on established trails, please be comfortable with and excited about remote wilderness. You are always welcome to skip any run aside from Day 5 & 7.
There will be a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 runners. Spots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so early deposits are recommended!
The flight from Vancouver International Airport to Bella Coola will depart ~1:45pm on July 27** - arriving in Vancouver at least one day early strongly encouraged to avoid missing that flight. If you do choose to fly in that day, plan for at least a 4 hour buffer at the airport - therefore your arrival in Vancouver should be no later than 9:45am. This is to allow time to clear immigration, collect your checked luggage, and take the shuttle bus to the domestic terminal.
You will return to the Vancouver domestic terminal at 12:45pm on August 4. Your outbound flight from Vancouver should depart no earlier than 3:45pm on August 4. This is to allow time in case of delays, and for transfer from the domestic terminal to the main terminal.
**confirmed flight schedules will not be released by the airline until Nov 30, so please do not book travel until you have received the go-ahead from us in December**
US citizens will need a passport with at least 6 months of validity left; no visas or vaccinations are required. Participants from other countries should check with their consulate for entry requirements.
Please note that travel insurance is strongly recommended. Although we hope you never need it, we've seen enough to know that it can be a lifesaver in the event of a medical emergency, flight delays that cause you to miss the start of the trip, lost baggage or cancellation on your part (break your leg two weeks before departure? Miss the flight to Bella Coola and have to book another on your own? Insurance could cover the entire cost of your trip, or that missed flight!).
You can find those here.
